The 3GPP SA4 working group is mandatorily referencing some LASeR features as part of the 3GPP Dynamic Interactive Multimedia Scene draft specification (DIMS). The DIMS specification will be finalised in the 3GPP release 7 timeframe (June 2007). The DIMS draft specification (3GPP 26.142) is available here. The Open Mobile Alliance organisation is working on the specification of a Rich-Media Enabler. This RME will be based on the 3GPP DIMS specification and will defacto reference the LASeR specification. The RME enabler should be finalised by end of 2007.
The MPEG-LASeR working group is finalising the 1st amendment of the specification (so call LASeR v2) and is evaluating the need to create a second amendment. Contribution to the so call LASeR v3 can be provided by the usual MPEG process or by using the mpeg-laser mailing list. http://lists.uni-klu.ac.at/mailman/listinfo/mpeg-laser

At the end of the voting period, the MEPG-4 part 20 specification has been aprouved and is now an IS (International Standard) A corringendum is ongoing on LASeR v1 specification and a 1st amendment call "alignment with SVGT1.2" as started. This 1st amendment so call LASeR v2 will be finalised in Q4 2006.
